Update for '08

Happy New Year!!

Now that the old year has closed and the new year has rolled in it's time to think about all of the great things you plan to do this year. Of course the "plan" may never reach fruition if you don't actually work on your plan. So here are my top 3 suggested resolutions for any artist.

1. Revamp your artist statement. Over the last year you have had ups and downs; good ideas and bad. Think about what you have been through and update your statement to match your new thoughts about your art.  Think of this as a statement of work for yourself. It should reflect you and your thoughts about your art. As you change so will your statement.

2. UPDATE YOUR BUSINESS PLAN. You won't be able to reach your goals if you don't have an up to date plan. If you don't have a plan, then the next step is obvious; make one. Paula used Alyson B. Stanfield of ArtBizCoach.com. She started her plan last summer and when things start to get hectic she can always go back to the plan to regain her focus.

3. Comb through your contact list and update the information. You probably gained contacts over the holidays. Be sure to update your database. Check your email list and cull out any dead emails.  If you have another way to contact them, then get an updated email address. If you don’t have a way to contact them then delete them. I know… most people don't talk about deleting contacts. Think about it this way. Would you want to keep up with a list of names that you can no longer reach? I wouldn't. Also that's just a waste of resources that could be used for a true contact. If you happen to run across that person this year, you can always add them again with the updated information!!

Hi - I am a student of Paula's and wanted to make a comment on your site because I have been so pleased with my instruction. I take private lessons in Paula's studio at her home and have learned so much in such a short amount of time that it is amazing to me. From only two visits, I was able to complete a project that I think is rather large for a beginner and I'm very pleased with it. I could do many more projects with just the techniques I have learned but am going back for more instruction so I can do different types of mosaic projects. Paula is a very attentive and precise instructor who teaches techniques, safety, tools and equipment needed for this hobby and much more. I think it's great that Rodney (whom I have not met) is helpful and supportive of Paula's artistic career. I'm so glad I found Paula!
